I Laugh, You Laugh: March Entertainment Becomes Webcaster with Comedy Portal

Posted on Oct 04, 2006

Toronto, October 4, 2006 — Today March Entertainment, Canada's leading producer of digital content, announced the launch of ilaugh.com, a broadband comedy portal that is the destination of choice for those seeking a daily fix of edgy and irreverent humour.

"With the launch of ilaugh.com we are aggressively pursuing the next generation of content distribution," says Dan Hawes, president of March Entertainment. "We began this journey almost 10 years ago with the launch of the Chilly Beach webisodes. At the time, the economics were simply not there and TV was the only viable option. Today, bandwidth costs are a fraction of what they were, while ad revenues and audience numbers are through the roof. The key to this burgeoning broadband market is investing in original content and building audience communities — and that's what we intend to do."

Targeting males aged 18-35 years, ilaugh.com launches with nine original webisodic series, ranging between 2 and 5 minutes in length. Each series will have accompanying games that have been created for the internet and produced by March Entertainment, creators of the award-winning series Chilly Beach and The Very Good Adventures of Yam Roll in Happy Kingdom.

Featured ilaugh.com shows include: TRANSFORCE, a slightly askew series that follows a team of misfit superheroes consisting entirely of transsexual mutants; BECOMING GEORGIE, which tells the tale of a young Georgie Bush as he tries to put himself through college and find his way in the world; and BIG ASS AMERICA, a series that takes a look at the land of big guns, big hair and big waistlines. March Entertainment's flagship series Chilly Beach and Yam Roll are also available on ilaugh.com.

Each series offers immersive games allowing audience members to interact with the iLaugh characters and experience their whacky worlds. In addition to these original properties, ilaugh.com features user-generated content and 300 episodes from the iconic Canadian comedy series, The Red Green Show.

The launch of ilaugh.com will be supported by a national, multi-tiered marketing campaign that will include grassroots postering, stenciling and campus outreach. In addition, a 15-second customized ilaugh.com promo will run on the Air Canada Centre's Jumbotron during the Leafs opening game of the season on Wednesday, October 4th.
