March Entertainment has teamed up to co-produce a series of CGI DVD movies for toy maker Playmobil.

The movies will be produced by March Entertainment, XLT and Toonz in partnership. The DVDs are distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The first DVD, The Secret of Pirate Island, is already available through retailers such as Best Buy, Toys "R" Us, Costco, Walmart and online retailers such as Amazon, as well as through select Playmobil distributors.

The full-length movies also allow viewers to select their own path using an intuitive DVD menu. It has already received enthusiastic reviews for its entertaining story and replayability.

Targeted towards kids 5 years and older, the movies have a range of themes, combining fantasy worlds, adventure and comedy while including catchy musical numbers by acclaimed composer Tim Williams and Emmy award winner Anthony Vanderburgh.

"We are so excited about working with the Playmobil products. The toys are creative and inspiring, allowing parents and kids to role-play together in the various Playmobil worlds. These interactive movies will be equally engaging," said Dan Hawes, CEO of March Entertainment.

March Entertainment and partners plan to release the movies at the rate of about one per year. The next release, which is currently in production, is called Knight's Adventure: Quest for the Golden Scepter and is based on the best-selling Playmobil Knights playset.
