Special Yam Roll Short to Make Canadian Debut
An exclusive, festival-only episode of March Entertainment’s acclaimed CBC series, The Very Good Adventures of Yam Roll in Happy Kingdom, will make its Canadian debut at the Canadian Film Centre Worldwide Short Film Festival.
Yam Roll fans can catch Yam Roll in: Pyjama-Rama as part of the festival’s “Shorts for Shorties” block on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. (EST) at Toronto’s Art Gallery of Ontario. The screening is free for kids under 12 years old.
As a special treat, series co-creator and director Jon Izen will once again lead an animation drawing workshop following the screening, at 1:30 p.m. There is a maximum of 15 participants, so those interested should arrive early to secure a place (the box office opens at 11:15 a.m.).
Yam Roll in: Pyjama-Rama is a hilarious and histrionic romp starring Yam Roll, Tamago and a seemingly miraculous pair of fancy pyjamas. Written by series co-creator Jono Howard, the 11-minute short features work by award-winning animators Ivan Rusev and Mike Geiger.
The Worldwide Short Film Festival, now in its 16th year, will showcase 281 short films selected from a record 4,046 submissions. Top WSFF winners are eligible for both Academy Award and Genie Award consideration.
