NOHFC Invests in March Entertainment's Dex Hamilton, Spurs Job Growth in Sudbury

Sudbury, May 3, 2008 — The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is investing $1,650,000 in the production of a new March Entertainment series, titled Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist, creating more high-quality jobs in one of Northern Ontario's emerging economic sectors.

March Entertainment is developing Dex (previously titled "Pest Control 3000") in partnership with production houses in the United Kingdom and in Australia. It will also target distribution through the Internet and through wireless devices such as cell phones and portable media players. It is estimated that some 80 jobs will be generated over the lifetime of the production.

"By investing in exciting projects such as this one, the McGuinty government continues to help grow the Northern Ontario television and film production sector," said Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle, who is also chair of the NOHFC.

"March Entertainment is the cornerstone of Sudbury's television production sector and is again creating important job opportunities within the computer animation community," said Sudbury MPP and Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services Rick Bartolucci.

Chilly Beach, a critically acclaimed hit series that ran for three years and is still seen Saturdays on CBC TV. The NOHFC provided $2.1 million to help March take this series from the web to television.
