CBC Kids Launches G2G: Extra Credit, an Interactive Gaming Experience

Posted on Aug 20, 2011

A new interactive portal and gaming suite based on the March Entertainment show G2G: Got to Go! launched today on the CBC Kids website.

G2G: Extra Credit is an interactive experience for tweens that seamlessly combines the worlds of social networking, gaming and creative writing. By offering numerous options for creative play within a moderated, consistently updated structure, G2G:XC will be a popular destination for kids to return to time and time again.

G2G:XC, developed with help from the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, turns social networking into a kind of meta-game while incorporating a slew of engaging mini-games. As players contribute to the community, complete challenges and unlock achievements, they earn "Credit" and achievement awards.

Credit comes into play for perhaps the most exciting aspect of the G2G:XC — special events. These themed events are scheduled on a regular basis by the site's content manager. For instance, during the run-up to a Halloween event, participating users can dress up their avatar in a spooky costume using available apparel and accessories. They can then enter their creations into a costume contest, earning them bonus Credit.

The show, which airs Saturday mornings on CBC at 11:30 a.m. (EST), has a keen focus on social interaction, technology and decision-making. This lends itself perfectly to a web community where players can interact with others in a wholesome, fun and educational environment while being rewarded for the quality of their contributions.

G2G: Extra Credit was developed by March Entertainment, whose other recent interactive properties include the multiplatform bubble-popping game Cranky Cat and the award-nominated browser game Dex Hamilton's Bug Quest.
