New Animated Series "g2g: Got to Go!" to Brighten Tween Screens
Sydney, August 15, 2008 — A new 26 x 22-minute animated series targeted towards tween viewers, entitled g2g: Got to Go! will premiere this Saturday, August 16 on Australia's Nine Network at 8:10 a.m.
A co-production between Moody Street Kids (Australia) and March Entertainment (Canada) with assistance from Film Victoria, this spunky, lighthearted yet intelligent cartoon series views pre-teen life through the eyes of the world's only 12-year-old "Dear Abby." After the series was announced at MIPTV 2007, g2g was voted one of the top five hot shows to watch for by Broadcast magazine.
The Flash-animated series follows 12-year-old Maddie Marples-Macintosh, a shy girl who hates the limelight despite the fact that her parents are both big TV stars. But in the background, Maddie lives a double life, hosting the advice column of the official school weblog as the anonymous "Ms. Communic8ion." As she navigates the train wreck that is pre-teen life along with her close friends Saffron, Rainbow and Leet, she manages to whip up sage advice to help her fellow troubled tweens.
g2g: Got to Go! was created and executive produced by Gillian Carr, who established Moody Street Kids in 2002. A member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Ms. Carr spent 15 years working in television in the United Kingdom before moving to Australia, focusing strongly on the kids' arena. Other Moody Street Kids credits include the digital animated series Faireez, which won the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards for Best Music for Children's Television. Faireez was distributed by Southern Star, who will also distribute g2g.
"We are very excited to see the characters from g2g come to life on Saturday," said Ms. Carr.
g2g is co-produced and animated by Sudbury, Ontario-based March Entertainment, a digital content producer that specializes in Flash animation. March Entertainment also produces the popular Gemini Award-nominated series Chilly Beach, The Very Good Adventures of Yam Roll in Happy Kingdom, and Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist, a new adventure-comedy series in production.
"We're all looking forward to see Maddie and her friends hit the screen on g2g," said Dan Hawes, the show's producer and president of March Entertainment. "We worked hard to make this a great-looking show, and we believe its strong storylines, good-natured humour and fun characters will really resonate with young audiences."
